Horse Training Books
A list of Great Titles to Get Started

There are a few horse training books on the market today. I have found some great ones to get you started on training your equine friend.

Clicker Training

After reading a book on clicker training, I first practiced on my dogs. My goal was to teach my pot belly pigs some new tricks. The dogs caught on very fast.

I then tried it on my horse, Chelsea Morning. She is on stall rest due to sand colic. So, she is quite bored and I try to keep her entertained with toys and lots of brushing and short walks up and down our trail.

I tried it with her. First I clicked and gave her a treat. I did this for a few minutes.

I then showed her the "mark" any object she is to touch with her nose.

I clicked as soon as she went close to the mark.

I clicked when she touched the mark

It was not as quick as I envisioned - but all horses are different and learn at different speeds

and then I tried it on Tom our 10 year old Canadian...
WOW, he caught on so fast!

Tom picked up the idea in a flash! Within 10 minutes I had taught him to count to two!

I say, " count " and he stamped his right foot 2 times. I click and treat. He had a great time and so did I.

chelsea Morning watched from her stall and was eager to try again.

The pigs caught on even faster!

Some books I recommend to get you started on clicker training your pet.

This one is my favourite
